Boarding

Wellspring Farm in Bellevue State Park is a full boarding facility with easy access to Wilmington, Philadelphia, and the suburbs of those cities. Our monthly fee for boarding is $600. We feed twice a day but extra feedings can be accommodated for horses with special needs. We provide daily turnout, both individual and group paddocks are available. We do not offer pasture board. We have a small indoor arena, and two outdoor sand arenas. We have limited trails in the park which is 275 acres but extensive trails adjacent to the Brandywine River are accessible with a short trailer ride.

Wellspring has a veterinary program, dental program, and farriers that come to the barn on a regular basis. See below for more information.

Veterinarian Program

Veterinarian Care is provided by Jeffry L. Rubin D.V.M.. Worming is done on a monthly basis throughout the year. Coggins tests are taken and inoculations are given annually each January.

Wellspring also has a long standing relationship with the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine at New Bolton Center for emergency care.

Shoeing Program

At Wellspring, all horses are put on a regular shoeing schedule unless the owner makes other arrangements. We have two farriers who work together with the veterinarians to formulate the correct shoeing program for each horse's specific needs.

If you have a preferred blacksmith you can make arrangements and schedule accordingly.

Dental Program

All horses are required to have their teeth floated on a yearly basis. This helps horses utilize their feed and also helps with training and acceptance of the bit. Our dentist comes to the barn on a regular basis throughout the year.Gail Emerson, equine dentist
